Anti-Static Heel Strap for Conductive Tile Floors
Anti-static heel straps are designed to be used on special conductive floor tile (not included) as part of a comprehensive anti-static program.
Heel straps allow complete freedom of movement and eliminate the need for an anti-static wrist strap with its grounding cord tied to a bench ground. For effective protection from static electricity, two heel straps are recommended. One heel strap should be worn on each foot to ensure a continuous ground while walking. Velcro ties pulled over the top of the shoe secure the heel strap in place.
The nylon ribbon (with conductive fibers) should be tucked into the sock to make contact with skin, or at a minimum be tucked into the shoe. This provides a path to ground from the wearer, through the heel strap, to the grounded conductive tile, thus preventing static charges from building up and being carried around on the body.
For work areas without anti-static (conductive) floor tile, anti-static wrist straps with ground cords are the alternative solution.
