Constantly Monitors Two Antistatic Wrist Straps
Constant Monitor S5182 monitors in "real time" the operational performance of up to two antistatic wrist straps and their entire path to ground while the straps are being worn by operators during their work. Constantly monitoring for ESD ground faults is much better than occasionally checking the wrist strap with an ordinary wrist strap tester, because any faults detected by the constant monitor are realized immediately, before static can damage your product, not hours after the fact! Constant monitors are ideal for any manufacturing environment where static damage is a concern. Antistatic wrist straps can and do fail. ESD ground cords get stressed from prolonged use and can break open inside the insulation.
Significant advantages of using a constant monitor: • Immediate detection of antistatic wrist strap ground faults, • Detects intermittent faults that a wrist strap tester may not catch, • No need to rely on employees to periodically test their wrist straps, • Reduced potential of ESD damage means improved product quality and reliability, • Comparable cost to wrist strap testers but with the added benefit of constant ground fault monitoring. • Eliminates periodic testing requirements of ESD wrist straps and table grounds • Relieves supervisors of having to monitor employees periodic ground strap testing and keeping test log records.
How a constant monitor works: Operators plug their ESD wrist strap cord into the grounding jack of the constant monitor right at their workstation. The constant monitor grounds the wrist strap and simultaneously monitors for faults in the ground path from the strap to the earth ground, including proper contact to the operators skin. A proper working ground path results in the LED on the constant monitor to glow green (indicating GOOD). If a fault is detected, the LED will blink red (indicating FAULT), and the unit will repeatedly beep.
