Encapsulated solar modules are made of interconnected photovoltaic solar cells, which convert sunlight into DC voltage to power electronic circuits and projects. A solar module may be used alone, or two or more modules can be wired together in series or in parallel (or both) into larger "solar panels" to increase the useful voltage or current. Just as with batteries, if modules are wired together in series, their voltages will "add", and modules wired together in parallel will likewise increase the available current. When even more power is needed, solar panels may be similarly expanded into "solar arrays".
